RE: Maggie Thatcher and Abraham Lincoln - Jim Page - 04-09-2013 08:37 PM Mike, that was well put. Lincoln, as was mentioned in the Spielberg film, was absolutely a man of his time. "Do you think we choose the times into which we are born? Or do we fit the times we are born into?" Let's focus on him as he was when he was. --Jim RE: Maggie Thatcher and Abraham Lincoln - RJNorton - 04-10-2013 03:57 AM (04-09-2013 08:37 PM)Jim Page Wrote: Let's focus on him as he was when he was. David Chambers Mearns said of Lincoln, "If he belongs to the ages it is because he belonged inseparably to his own age, his own fellows, his own environment ... if we would honor him, recognize and understand him we must return to his [age]." From p. 13 of Mearns' book titled Largely Lincoln. BTW, I've never seen anything wrong with wanting to improve one's financial situation, as long as you're not out stealing to do it. And we know the politicians are the biggest stealers out there!! |
