You're going backwards; with guesses like that someone else will be spending the free night in the Mary Todd Lincoln bedroom.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - J. Beckert - 07-25-2012 04:13 PM

Alright - back to business. I've never seen the photo before, but one more and I'm done. Ward Hill Lamon.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Laurie Verge - 07-25-2012 04:23 PM

I'm betting that it's in a book written by Ed Steers, but I don't know which one. Ed has done a great deal of genealogical and biographical work on Lincoln.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 07-25-2012 04:24 PM

Nope, not Lamon.

We are being picked up by the neighbors in 10 minutes, and I need to get ready. We are off to Captiva Island for the evening. No more computer today. People can keep guessing if they want, but I won't be able to reveal the answer until tomorrow, assuming someone gets it right.

Look at that - the teacher goes out to have fun and leaves us students to do homework!

RE: Extra Credit Questions - J. Beckert - 07-25-2012 06:15 PM

I hate when he does that. And is it just me, or have his trivia questions gotten harder since there's some Lincoln lore in there aside from the assassination related ones? I'm very rusty on Lincoln. The man knows his stuff there, for sure.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - L Verge - 07-25-2012 06:31 PM

Agreed - and if I find out that he went to the Keylime Bistro on Captiva Island, I'm going to be very jealous.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 07-25-2012 06:47 PM

I am briefly logging in from a condo being rented by some friends on Captiva. We are off to a place called R. C. Otters. Just checking to see if everyone is behaving.

I'll give another hint and then say good night again.

Hint#2: Laurie may be on to something with her comment about Ed Steers.

I can't help it so I'll add a little humor here and guess the Potter brothersBig Grin
Okay, so I am kidding. Now for my serious guess. Was it Ann Rutledge?

Thomas Lincoln?

i've lived in worse places than that....but i was raised in a home dating back to 1867 that was in an Alexander Gardner photo as he moved through eastern kansas on his famous cross-country expedition Big Grin

Ha Ha ! Glad you have a good sense of humor, Tom! I just had to tweak Roger, there! (I'm very sorry, Mr. Norton, Sir. Next time please throw out a hint with a little more meat on it. I think I'm your only member that hasn't written a book or has his own blog! You've assembled quite a group of experts here. Congrats on that.)

You know you are getting old when you are up later than normal the previous night, yet still awake at the usual early morning time. Gonna need a nap this afternoon!

Hint#3: Of all guesses so far Gene is closest.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - LincolnMan - 07-26-2012 05:27 AM

Roger: you're so right! I have been that way for years!

RE: Extra Credit Questions - J. Beckert - 07-26-2012 06:50 AM

This is killing me. Sarah Bush Lincoln.
