Or someone he was close to? Finally - it is not related to his assassination, is it? Is the site in New York? RE: Extra Credit Questions - STS Lincolnite - 01-21-2024 09:11 PM Hmm....has he visited the site only, or more than once? Is the visit a well known event? Is the site in New York? Eva, He visited the site only once to my knowledge. And I would say that it was a well-known event. No, the site is not in New York. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Steve - 01-21-2024 11:12 PM Was it during a train stop during his trip to Washington after being elected President? RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 01-22-2024 03:21 AM My question, too. But it looks like a private home to me, and I don't recall him making visits in private homes on that trip. So - is it a private place? RE: Extra Credit Questions - STS Lincolnite - 01-22-2024 07:44 AM (01-21-2024 11:12 PM)Steve Wrote: Was it during a train stop during his trip to Washington after being elected President? This is a good guess Steve but it is not correct. (01-22-2024 03:21 AM)Eva Elisabeth Wrote: My question, too. But it looks like a private home to me, and I don't recall him making visits in private homes on that trip. So - is it a private place? Yes, Eva, it IS a private home. But when he went there, it was not for a expressly for a personal visit to the owner (though Lincoln did speak to the owners). RE: Extra Credit Questions - AussieMick - 01-22-2024 09:01 AM Is it Richmond? RE: Extra Credit Questions - STS Lincolnite - 01-22-2024 09:16 AM (01-22-2024 09:01 AM)AussieMick Wrote: Is it Richmond? Exceptional guess! However, still not correct. His visit to Richmond being an example, Lincoln took a few trips outside of Washington DC during the war. He visited this site on one of those trips. An additional clue: It was NOT on his trip to Gettysburg. RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 01-22-2024 11:17 AM How about his trip to the Sanitary Fair in Philadelphia? RE: Extra Credit Questions - Gene C - 01-22-2024 11:23 AM Gettysburg ? RE: Extra Credit Questions - STS Lincolnite - 01-22-2024 01:41 PM (01-22-2024 11:17 AM)RJNorton Wrote: How about his trip to the Sanitary Fair in Philadelphia? Another good guess. But not correct. (01-22-2024 11:23 AM)Gene C Wrote: Gettysburg ? Sorry Gene, not Gettysburg. RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 01-22-2024 02:10 PM How about this trip? https://lincolndepotmuseum.org/calendar/mr-lincolns-secret-visit-to-west-point/ RE: Extra Credit Questions - STS Lincolnite - 01-22-2024 03:40 PM (01-22-2024 02:10 PM)RJNorton Wrote: How about this trip? Roger, I can't get the link to work. But as I see in the full url there is a reference to a secret visit to West Point. That would not be the correct trip. Another clue: Lincoln visited the site in question in 1862. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Joe Di Cola - 01-22-2024 04:10 PM Is it a building at Phillips-Andover Academy where Lincoln visited his son, Robert? RE: Extra Credit Questions - STS Lincolnite - 01-22-2024 07:38 PM (01-22-2024 04:10 PM)Joe Di Cola Wrote: Is it a building at Phillips-Andover Academy where Lincoln visited his son, Robert? Sorry Joe, this is not correct. But another interesting attempt. Remember, the Lincoln "excursion" from Washington DC related to this site took place in 1862. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Rob Wick - 01-22-2024 09:32 PM How about Frederick, Maryland when he visited there on October 4, 1862 after the battle of Antietam? Best Rob |
