RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 10-12-2023 No googling please. What is this child's name? ![]() RE: Extra Credit Questions - mbgross - 10-12-2023 Stanton? RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 10-12-2023 Nope, Mike, it's not Stanton. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Gene C - 10-12-2023 Mamie (Mary) Lincoln - Lincoln's granddaughter RE: Extra Credit Questions - AussieMick - 10-12-2023 Robert Lincoln? RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 10-12-2023 On the right track, Michael, but Gene got it. It is Robert Lincoln's daughter Mary "Mamie" Lincoln. Kudos, Gene! RE: Extra Credit Questions - AussieMick - 10-19-2023 What was the name of the only Union general who fought in the Civil War (died 1916) that we can be certain did not vote for Lincoln in 1864. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 10-19-2023 George McClellan? (If not, it must be so who was dead by 1884, as death is the only safe "no vote" in the end.) RE: Extra Credit Questions - AussieMick - 10-20-2023 I thought someone would suggest him, so I was going to state that it wasnt him... sorry Eva. McClellan might have been deliberately obnoxious and voted for Lincoln just out of spite or in error ... we cannot be certain how he voted ... and as you suggested McClellan didnt cark it in 1916 (actually McClellan died in 1885) as my General did. So, not McClellan. You are though thinking along the correct lines. RE: Extra Credit Questions - AussieMick - 10-20-2023 When I say "thinking along correct lines", I mean outside of the square .... "how can we be certain" that this General did not vote for Lincoln? Work that out and I suggest you'll be able to google the answer if you dont know it already. RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 10-20-2023 David McMurtrie Gregg? RE: Extra Credit Questions - AussieMick - 10-20-2023 Close but no cigar. Two out of 3 Roger ... your man died in 1916 and came from Pennsylvania ... just like the person I want. Unless you are 100% sure that Gregg did not vote for Lincoln in 1864 I'll stay with the name I have. This person was born in the US. Marquis de Lafayette was not of course and anyway he died in 1834. RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 10-20-2023 Galusha Pennypacker? RE: Extra Credit Questions - Anita - 10-20-2023 Glenville Mellen Dodge? RE: Extra Credit Questions - AussieMick - 10-20-2023 Sorry Anita. ... Roger got it. General Pennypacker was 19 when he was made General and only 20 years old at the election. The Marquis was also 19 when General in the Continental Army. |
