RE: Extra Credit Questions - Gene C - 08-21-2023 Robert Lincoln's home in Chicago ? RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 08-21-2023 Kudos, Gene! That was Robert Lincoln's home on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago from 1893 to 1911. RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 08-22-2023 This is the den in the home of a familiar person on this forum. Whose home/den was this? ![]() RE: Extra Credit Questions - Gene C - 08-22-2023 If it's who I think it is, my son used to lived within walking distance of this home. I've walked my son's dog by this home. The person in question led a very interesting life, and was a man of many talents serving in the military, prestigious political positions, and an accomplished writer. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Anita - 08-22-2023 John Hay? RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 08-22-2023 Good try, Anita, but it's not John Hay. Gene, your first two attributes regarding his life are correct. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Gene C - 08-22-2023 Lew Wallace ? RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 08-22-2023 Nope, not Wallace. RE: Extra Credit Questions - AussieMick - 08-23-2023 General McClellan ? RE: Extra Credit Questions - Anita - 08-23-2023 Robert Lincoln's Chicago home!! RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 08-23-2023 I think Anita is right RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 08-23-2023 Yes, Anita and Eva! That is the den from inside Robert's home at 1234 Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. Many thanks to Joe Di Cola who sent me that photo many years ago. RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 08-31-2023 Several states contributed funds for the original construction of the Lincoln Tomb. Illinois' donation of $50,000 was the highest. The next best was $10,000. Which state contributed that amount? RE: Extra Credit Questions - mbgross - 08-31-2023 is it NY? RE: Extra Credit Questions - Rob Wick - 08-31-2023 I would guess Kentucky.
