I was going to guess marriage and a family, but I can see that's wrong. -
so let's try, have someone (relative) named after her,
or a building at a school named after her.

Good guesses Gene, but neither is correct. Actually, there was a woman's dorm named after Tarbell at Allegheny College while she was still living. However, she refused to let the college name the library room with her Lincoln collection after her.

Roger, that's a perfectly reasonable guess, but not correct.
Next clue: This helps to explain why Tarbell's papers are in two different archives.

Tarbell talked about this in 1921 with none other than S.S. McClure, but nothing ever came of it.
