Kudos, Bill - venisti, vidisti, vicisti (you came, saw, and nailed it...)!!!

Some further info:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Charles_L%27Enfant#Honors

L'Enfant died in poverty, leaving behind three watches, three compasses, some books, some maps, and surveying instruments, whose total value was about 45$. I first thought of replicae as prize, but upon reconsideration joining Roger in an all-inclusive visit here is probably much more a Mordsgaudi (Bavarian "great fun"):

(What was that again - one, two three, floor?)

One Bier, two Bier, three Bier, floor. Prost!

Thanks - in all honesty, I've never drunk an entire beer (gave up before), so how can I know...

In college we worked on the scientific principle that drinking a glass of milk before a beer party would spare you the floor part. In Europe, the German, Austrian, and Swiss beers were very good; the dark ales of England would put hair on the chest of Miley Cyrus!

Beer contains female hormones.

THAT, I didn't need to know. But, I'll be proud and say that my college parties made me what I am today -- and I double-damn dare anyone to post a comment about that! Think it to yourself, but don't let it come out the tips of your fingers.

I'm with Eva on the subject of beer. My wife loves it, but I'd rather have a mixed drink or a brandy any day. Laurie, I remember hearing of that milk trick in college, and I also was told that taking a big pink swig of Pepto-Bismol would be even more effective.

The one time I tried it, it didn't work. The draft Old Milwaukee won.

Laurie - I was absolutely not thinking of you, truly only of that the beer itself would work against Miley's (whoever she is - singer? Actress?) chest hair growth.

Hmmmm. You quite correctly anticipated my next question.

RE: Stump the German - RJNorton - 09-28-2015 02:54 PM

Alpheus Starkey Williams?

RE: Stump the German - Eva Elisabeth - 09-28-2015 02:58 PM

Excellent guess, Roger, but, I'm sorry, not correct.

Hmmmm. But there's a statue in a city in the US dedicated to him:
