RE: Trivia question - RJNorton - 06-27-2025 08:19 AM Nope, not cooks. RE: Trivia question - Steve - 06-27-2025 01:53 PM If I remember correctly it was, hunting? RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 06-27-2025 05:15 PM Knits? RE: Trivia question - RJNorton - 06-27-2025 06:16 PM Kudos, Steve! I was surprised when I read it because I had known of the old "turkey story" in which 8=year-old Abraham had shot and killed a turkey. Then, when he took a look at the dead turkey, he felt really bad. And I had (perhaps naively) thought that Lincoln never hunted afterwards. But, according to Indiana friend, David Turnham, Lincoln sometimes hunted on Sundays. RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-04-2025 10:00 PM (No googling, please) Ernest Hemingway didnt like it. But Charles Dickens did ... and Jane Austen did, too. Lincoln had very considerable respect for it. To what am I referring? RE: Trivia question - RJNorton - 07-05-2025 03:52 AM Was it a controversial piece of literature? RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-05-2025 05:18 AM No, Roger. RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-05-2025 06:19 AM Roger, you deserve a clue. RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-05-2025 09:01 AM Mrs Dalloway has more than a thousand. RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-05-2025 04:43 PM Some people still like this very useful little chap; I guess it depends upon education and personal preference. RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-05-2025 06:10 PM Yes, very useful; I used it just now. You'll kick yourselves; it's staring at you. I used it again. RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-05-2025 07:56 PM Ok, I relent. ( I know, its only easy if you created the question and know the answer.) Use Google if you wish A reminder of the question ... Ernest Hemingway didnt like it. But Charles Dickens did ... and Jane Austen did, too. Lincoln thought it useful and had very substantial respect for it. To what am I referring? Hemingway's comment related to his tool of trade. RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-05-2025 09:19 PM When I write Lincoln had very substantial respect for it, he didnt use those exact words; 'very substantial' was not used ... he used a short word. The question is what is "it" ? RE: Trivia question - AussieMick - 07-06-2025 02:10 AM Little chap; any help? RE: Trivia question - RJNorton - 07-06-2025 02:47 PM Fountain pens? |
