RE: Lincoln before Lincoln - Gene C - 05-01-2016 05:20 PM I've been watching "Sandburg's Lincoln" that Lane gave us the link to. It's much better than I remember, plus I know a little more about the events than the first time I saw it. After watching for the first hour, I can appreciate the actors portrayal a little better, with my favorite so far being Sada Thompson as Mary Lincoln. She doesn't show Mary as the most likable, but you can see how Mary was overwhelmed by events and tried to cope with the trials that came her way. You see Mary's pride in her family and also in herself, a touch of vanity and how that gets her into trouble. Takes a few minutes to warm up to the story, but for me it's quite enjoyable. Turner Classic Movies (TCM) tends to show Young Mr Lincoln quite often RE: Lincoln before Lincoln - ELCore - 05-02-2016 10:00 PM (05-01-2016 05:20 PM)Gene C Wrote: Takes a few minutes to warm up to the story, but for me it's quite enjoyable. Thanks for letting us know. I'm going to have to try it, too, one of these days. |
