The strange thing to me is that Booth only drank from the bottle at Surrattsville. He returned it to Lloyd and did not take it along with him. He was headed for Mudd and knew that liquor was part of the provisions sent to Mudd a few weeks before, according to Atzerodt????

That was still at least 15 miles that he had to travel on horseback with that throbbing leg.

When I was ten, I had a clean break of my upper right arm, very close to the shoulder. I don't remember any pain (just the inability to move my arm) until the x-ray techs started moving my arm in order to get clear x-rays. That movement did me in. I think the increased swelling inside an unforgiving boot would also increase the pain.
