Such a big book deserved a better binding. Mine seems to be OK now, but I've not started reading it either. Hope it holds up. The Jack Miller Center had asked Allen Guelzo for his top five Lincoln books as the Lincoln Bicentennial was approaching. See what you think of his picks: 1) Abraham Lincoln by Benjamin P. Thomas; 2) The Inner World of Abraham Lincoln by Michael Burlingame; 3) Honest Calling: The Law Practice of Abraham Lincoln by Mark E. Steiner; 4) The Young Eagle: The Rise of Abraham Lincoln by Kenneth J. Winkle; and 5) Crisis of the House Divided: An -interpretation of the Issues in the Lincoln-Douglas Debates by Henry V. Jaffa. Apparently, Carl Sandburg was a fan of the author as well. On the dedication page of Sandburg's one volume edition of Abraham Lincoln, Thomas is listed with several others.
