RE: Extra Credit Questions - Anita - 06-30-2016 09:37 AM Lincoln's friend Caleb's(?) cats. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 06-30-2016 12:31 PM I'd say Anita is correct! RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 06-30-2016 12:51 PM Good try, Gene, but Anita and Eva are correct. This information was in a letter Caleb Carman wrote to William Herndon on December 8, 1866. Carman wrote that at New Salem "we had two kittens Lincons favorite pets he would Take them up in his lap & play with them and Hold their heds together..." Anita and Eva - you both win shirts showing Abraham Lincoln and his favorite animal. RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 06-30-2016 12:56 PM Neat prize, thanks, Roger! RE: Extra Credit Questions - Anita - 06-30-2016 02:37 PM Great prize Roger. Thanks! RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 07-08-2016 01:34 PM What is this child's name? RE: Extra Credit Questions - J. Beckert - 07-08-2016 03:18 PM RTL's daughter Mary "Mamie" Lincoln. Fork over the tickets to Fred Smith's, please. RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 07-08-2016 03:48 PM Brilliant, Joe! A week's worth of tickets are on their way! RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 07-08-2016 04:10 PM I had the same haircut at that age. RE: Extra Credit Questions - LincolnMan - 07-08-2016 08:43 PM Is that the "buster brown" style of haircut? [attachment=2327] RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 07-12-2016 01:43 PM This young lady is named Louise. She gave this photo of herself to a young man. On the back of the photo she wrote: "To _________ with much love from Louise, September 21/89" To whom did Louise give her photo? RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 07-12-2016 01:51 PM Jack! (Robert's son Abraham II!) RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 07-12-2016 01:57 PM Incredible, Eva! The question lasted all of 8 minutes. I thought this might be a hard one, and I was already trying to figure out clues. You are absolutely correct. As far as I know Louise's last name is lost to history. Sadly, "Jack" died less than a year after receiving her gift. You said in another thread that you like 90 degree weather, and I shall send you some very warm air to Germany from Florida. We are having a hot summer here, even by Florida standards, and you can surely have some it. |
