RE: Where Is It? - RJNorton - 06-09-2024 12:40 PM Hint #1: The correct answer is in the Western Hemisphere. RE: Where Is It? - Rob Wick - 06-09-2024 09:50 PM Mexico? Best Rob RE: Where Is It? - RJNorton - 06-10-2024 04:04 AM Nope, not Mexico, Rob. You are very close, however. RE: Where Is It? - STS Lincolnite - 06-10-2024 01:33 PM That statue is in Havana, Cuba. You can find it on the map the Dave Wiegers and I created: https://dbwiegers.zenfolio.com/lincoln-sculpture-map We have recently updated and now have over 600 Lincoln sculptures (statue, bust, relief) represented! Every once in a while we hear of a supposed Lincoln sculpture in Canada, but we haven't yet been able to confirm any. One person sent us photo of a "Lincoln" statue in Canada. It was a bearded figure that was clearly not Lincoln, and with a little research, we were able to prove it wasn't Lincoln and find out who it was (but I can't remember the name now...). That was a close as we have come. RE: Where Is It? - RJNorton - 08-19-2025 07:52 PM No googling please. Where is this boulder located? ![]() RE: Where Is It? - RJNorton - 08-20-2025 06:19 AM Let's modify the question - in what state is the boulder located? RE: Where Is It? - Rob Wick - 08-20-2025 07:22 AM Is it Iowa? Best Rob RE: Where Is It? - Gene C - 08-20-2025 08:11 AM Michigan ? RE: Where Is It? - David Lockmiller - 08-20-2025 08:39 AM I "Burlingamed" a possible correct answer of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Burlingame's work is written in chronological order. "Later that month (August) Lincoln spoke in Kalamazoo, Michigan. . . . Cogently Lincoln argued that once slavery managed to take root in Kansas, attempts to expel it would fail." (Abraham Lincoln: A Life, Vol. One, p. 428) RE: Where Is It? - Dave Taylor - 08-20-2025 11:10 AM I read an article about this boulder a couple days ago (likely Roger did the same), so I won't give away the answer. But I will say that Michigan is incorrect. Since the article had this old picture, I was curious if the boulder was still in existence. The answer is yes. Here's a screen grab from Google Street View: ![]() RE: Where Is It? - RJNorton - 08-20-2025 12:01 PM Thanks, Dave. Iowa is incorrect, Gene. RE: Where Is It? - David Lockmiller - 08-20-2025 02:54 PM "In early August, Lincoln swung throughout southeastern Illinois." (Abraham Lincoln: A Life, Vol. One, p. 428) |
