RE: Assassination Trivia - Steve - 07-24-2019 11:19 AM He kind of looks like Ferdinand Foch, the French general from World War I. But I don't think Foch would make an appearance in Assassination Trivia. RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 07-24-2019 12:51 PM You are absolutely correct, Steve. It is not Foch. RE: Assassination Trivia - Steve - 07-24-2019 02:48 PM (07-24-2019 12:51 PM)RJNorton Wrote: You are absolutely correct, Steve. It is not Foch. But it would've been such an out of left field answer if it had been. Is the man a lawyer or judge linked to the conspiracy trial or the Surratt trial? RE: Assassination Trivia - J. Beckert - 07-24-2019 02:52 PM Peter Kahler? The bootmaker from NY? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 07-24-2019 03:28 PM Nope, not Kahler, Joe. Steve, the man was neither a lawyer nor a judge. RE: Assassination Trivia - L Verge - 07-24-2019 03:57 PM I have seen that photo before and for some reason am thinking "doctor," but I am lousy at remembering faces from photos - much better identifying folks that I have met in person. RE: Assassination Trivia - Steve - 07-24-2019 05:46 PM Is it Samuel Cox Jr. as an old man? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 07-25-2019 03:54 AM Nope, it's not Cox Jr. Hint #1: Laurie is on the right track. RE: Assassination Trivia - Steve - 07-25-2019 11:54 AM Dr. Albert King? RE: Assassination Trivia - L Verge - 07-25-2019 01:13 PM Pretty sure it is Dr. Abbott, the black surgeon that I mentioned in connection with Dr. Augusta. RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 07-25-2019 02:35 PM I am sorry, Steve and Laurie, but both of your guesses are incorrect. Hint #2: This doctor has been previously mentioned on this forum. RE: Assassination Trivia - Steve - 07-25-2019 02:47 PM I don't think I've seen a photo of Dr. William Queen before, I'll guess him! My first thought was Dr. Verdi (Seward), but I thought he had already been shown and guessed on the forum. RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 07-25-2019 04:14 PM Kudos, Laurie. Indeed it's Dr. Verdi. Yes, it was a question on the forum quite a few years ago, but I do not recall which photo was used. There are two photos here: http://www.homeoint.org/photo/uv/verdits.htm For forum members not familiar with Dr. Verdi --> he was an attending physician for William Seward after his carriage accident. When Lewis Powell came to the Seward home on the night of April 14, 1865, he used the ruse of having medicine from Dr. Verdi in his effort to gain entrance to Seward's bedroom. Powell told the servant, William Bell, that he had to personally give the medicine to Seward. Bell said no, and at this point, things began to turn violent. RE: Assassination Trivia - Steve - 07-25-2019 04:37 PM The question about Dr. Verdi was asked on this thread on posts 804-810 (pg. 54). It's the same photo used in this question, only not distorted. Roger, when you said that he was mentioned on "this forum" did you mean just the trivia section or the Forum as a whole? |
