Robert recalled, "I have a dim recollection of being under the slipper-guardianship of a school mistress until 1850."

SOURCE: Lincoln's Springfield Neighborhood by Bonnie E. Paull and Richard E. Hart with a Forward by Dr. Wayne Temple. This book was recommended to me by Joe Di Cola, and I agree with Joe - excellent book.

I cannot think of an appropriate prize for this, so I simply shall wish you a wonderful weekend.

Thanks Roger for the prize. One can never go wrong with a wonderful weekend and so I wish you the same.

Yes, Roger's prizes are always classy and of high value (while I would probably have issued something silly like this pair of harmless slippers:

Eva, those slippers might be a tad silly, but these I got for my wife were a big hit:

Of course, they are also a hit with our Murphy, who thinks they are his little brothers:

If Lincoln is The Emancipator, who is known as The Liberator?

RE: Extra Credit Questions - RJNorton - 07-12-2015 02:31 PM

The person was in the textbook I used when I was teaching - Simón Bolívar.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - L Verge - 07-12-2015 02:56 PM

Then maybe there are two who carry that sobriquet. I'm actually seeking another Liberator.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 07-12-2015 03:38 PM

Grant - because of the prisoner exchange?

I seem to link the title to Frederick Douglass though.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - L Verge - 07-12-2015 06:51 PM

Logical guess, Eva, but think outside of the U.S.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Eva Elisabeth - 07-12-2015 08:14 PM

Garibaldi?

RE: Extra Credit Questions - Gene C - 07-12-2015 09:01 PM

Are you referring to William Lloyd Garrison and his abolitionist newspaper "The Liberator"?

And Obama entitled Mandela likewise.

RE: Extra Credit Questions - L Verge - 07-13-2015 09:55 AM

The person that I am thinking of carried on a correspondence with Mr. Lincoln during the Civil War.

Benito Juarez
