Since it is 2:00 a.m. in Germany, and I know the answer, I will take the liberty of responding on Eva's behalf. No, it has nothing to do with John Surratt.

Is the anniversary on January 2 or January 3? My board settings aren't set to my own time zone, so I'm not sure when things are posted here.

RE: Assassination Trivia - Steve - 01-03-2019 11:53 PM

Based on the time code of Eva's post, it should be Jan. 3rd.

This is a wild guess, but might this be the 150th anniversary of the interment of John Wilkes Booth's remains in the Baltimore cemetery where he and other members of his family are buried?

I don't think that anniversary will happen until February.

Nope.

Edwin Booth's first performance after the assassination (January 3, 1866).

Yes, kudos Steve, he played "Hamlet" in NYC.

I received this photo in an email. Who is this?

Is the man a Lincoln scholar?

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 01-18-2019 03:16 PM

Yes, Steve. He is no longer living, however.

RE: Assassination Trivia - GustD45 - 01-18-2019 03:44 PM

Is it James O Hall?

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 01-18-2019 04:05 PM

Congratulations, Gust! Yes, it is a photo of Lt. James O. Hall taken during World War II. Before I received the photo, the ones I was most familiar with are here:

When Ed Steers sent me this photo, I started to cry -- and at my age, that's hard to do. As most of you know, James O. Hall ranks in the top ten of my favorite people who have influenced my life.

In our research files, we have another WWII photo of him astride a military motorcycle (MP?). We ladies swooned over how good-looking he was, even with half his head covered by a helmet. This photo is even better.
