RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 05-30-2018 Nope, not the Dixons. RE: Assassination Trivia - Susan Higginbotham - 05-30-2018 Elizabeth Blair Lee and Samuel Philips Lee? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 05-30-2018 Nope, not Elizabeth Blair Lee and Samuel Philips Lee. Hint #2: The last names of both people begin with a vowel. RE: Assassination Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 05-30-2018 Arnold? Samuel's parents? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 05-30-2018 Excellent, Eva! Kudos. Yes, these two people are George and Mary Jane Arnold, Sam Arnold's parents. I really thought I was going to have to give more hints! RE: Assassination Trivia - L Verge - 05-30-2018 I feel so stupid! Surratt House Museum actually had the original portraits of the Arnolds for years until a descendant came forward to claim them. We were happy to send them home with family since they were large, in need of conservation, and not appropriate for any of our displays. Wouldn't you think my brain would remember those faces? However, in my defense, the portraits were in bad condition and they left the building about 25 years ago... Does that work as an excuse? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 06-08-2018 Who is this? ![]() RE: Assassination Trivia - Gene C - 06-08-2018 I've seen that picture before, hmm? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 06-08-2018 Hint #1: It's a familiar name on this forum. RE: Assassination Trivia - L Verge - 06-08-2018 That is a sullen Lewis Thornton Powell, who looks none too happy about having to sit still on his mother's lap... RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 06-08-2018 Yes, Laurie! Kudos. That is a very young Lewis Powell. ![]() Picture Credit: Betty Ownsbey. Betty obtained the photo courtesy of Rufus Yent, a Powell relative. RE: Assassination Trivia - J. Beckert - 06-08-2018 Mom is one of the prettiest woman I've seen a photo of from the era. RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 06-10-2018 Who is this man? ![]() |
