Most definitely. It's great they got Tom Hanks to be the narrator - commentator.

RE: Killing Lincoln
But I'm not happy with two glaring errors in the text of this commercial: Mary Surratt was not the only woman executed by the federal government (they use the word "hanged" so I will have to check that validity), and Booth was killed in Virginia, not Southern Maryland. Whoever wrote that text seems to think Booth escaped first to Virginia and then to Maryland. Bet he flunked geography.

RE: Killing Lincoln
After rereading this I also noticed that "soldier" is misspelled as "soldeir".....

This is the WEBMASTER's problem - someone needs to proof after him/her!! Should we notify Erik?

I already posted a comment on that trailer. Hopefully they read it. Erik is also a member of this forum, but I don't know if he has time to follow us closely. Misspellings I can live with - now that the news media commit them constantly, but mishistory gets on my nerves.

RE: Killing Lincoln
Speaking of misspellings, there is one on Lewis Powell's gravestone: "Calvary" instead of "Cavalry". Incidentally, that gallows scene has always reminded me of Calvary, complete with a mob of onlookers (not that I'm implying in any way that the condemned were innocent...it's just so horrific to look at...)

RE: Killing Lincoln
Come, come, people, it was calvary to the average soldier even today. As my old hist prof said, "OK, but I refuse to accept cavalry."

I would be willing to bet that 90% of the American public makes the same mistake. That still does not make it acceptable. The stonemason should make it right.

RE: Killing Lincoln
It's not easy to spell things correctly with a southern accent

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

If I remember correctly, Gene has a wonderful Southern accent.

Is that a fairly new grave marker?
