Since some of us worked with Eva when Bill first presented this to her, I would give one more clue for one of the gentlemen: For those of you old enough to remember Love Boat, one of its characters went on to play David Herold in a TV movie that our own Betty O was part of the background cast in.

It was Fred Grandy and Ben Jones who played David Herold and Samuel Arnold, respectively, in the historically terrible and head-scratching "how did this film get made," The Lincoln Conspiracy. I will leave the awarding of the prize to Eva; however, I would suggest that any prize including your having to watch that film would violate the Constitutional prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment.

Strangely, although I've never seen this movie nor many other ones on the topic (not available here, and US DVDs don't work on European devices), one of my instant thoughts was actors of a movie, and I was at last familiar the title. (The other idea was similar to Roger's, "conspiracy theories", thus persons who have been suspected co-conspirators

Not knowing the movie respectively of it's awfulness, I indeed was going to award the winner with some way of watching...I will have to re-think...what if I joined watching?

The movie, in all its splendid glory, is available on youtube. My mere words and comments can not do justice to this movie. it's just one of those items that every student of the Lincoln assassination should experience. I imagine it ranks up there with sleeping on the cold hard ground on a frosty April night while suffering from a broken leg; like being hunted like a dog through swamps, woods and being chased by gunboats til being forced to return wet, cold, starving with every man's hand against you. Like feeling abandoned, with the curse of Cain upon you. Like giving up all that makes life sweet and holy. Well, maybe not quite all that bad, but sort of.

I am pretty sure that Fred Grandy did NOT appear in The Lincoln Conspiracy debacle by Balsiger and Sellier that contaminated the Lincoln assassination field way back when. Fred was in a later TV movie with Rob Morrow playing Booth in sunglasses. Can I remember the name of that movie? Of course not. Betty will know because she was part of the cast in a ball scene - and also developed a crush on the actor who played Paine (Titus Welliver, who now does insurance commercials, but used to play in a TV series).

The Day Lincoln Was Shot, isn't it? I'm saving it for a sick day, or am I better off eating an apple a day and drinking my orange juice? I just looked at the DVD case and was admiring Booth's shades.
