Someone just informed me today that FindAGrave has a listing that claims John Wilkes Booth escaped to Lee County, Mississippi, and lived out the rest of his life in seclusion with relatives. He is buried in Smith Cemetery in Guntown, Mississippi, under a marker placed there by a George Booth.

There is a photo of the gravestone here.

Another place JWB died was in Assam, India, on October 12, 1883. Has anyone here traveled there to photograph that gravestone?

That must be it!!!! It has a headstone.

I don't think it's a sign from JWB...........maybe from Junius Brutus? He was kinda into signs and the likes thereof.

So I suppose the gentleman in the grave must have claimed he was JWB?

Here the author, Lee Smith states, "He (Booth) was shot, captured and sent to a federal prison where he died on April 25, 1865"
He also states earlier in his article "But, before we delve further into why the man who in cold blood shot President Abrahm Lincoln in 1985...."

We need to introduce Lee Smith to John Wally. Hopefully, Mr. Wally can help straighten Mr. Smith out regarding the facts.
