Sad news.

The Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL is set to close this May.

At this time we do not know what impact this will have on the Lincoln Heritage Museum located on the school campus. The museum, and other sites in the town of Lincoln, have been one of my favorite places to visit on our Springfield tours.
Well, it did close in May 2022. Very sad. But the museum remains open. Iv’e never been to that museum. I can’t believe that. I need to go. Wiki says that some of the artifacts donated there were from the last of the Lincoln line (Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith). Anyone been to the museum?
The Lincoln Heritage Museum is great. It's a bit different than most museums.
It is in a 2 story building with the downstairs having different artifacts that have something to do with Lincoln. I remember at the time we visited they had some of Mary Lincoln's jewelry on display.

Up stairs (they have an elevator) is the interesting part. It tells the story of Lincoln's life as his life passes as a series of flashbacks, right after he has been shot. You go from room to room as they tell tell his life story using quotes from people who knew him. Each room has a dream like setting, each room is designed to show a scene in Lincoln's life. In the background you softly hear the sounds as the event unfolds. All the while you also hear a ticking clock, as time runs down. Very moving. The room telling of Willie Lincoln's death will break your heart.

The museum, and other interesting places and things to see (with photos), are mentioned in the Springfield Tour thread
