Lincoln Discussion Symposium

I found this "Lincoln" bit of news-although it is not new as the story came out in 2009. It seems there is the question or possibility that Lincoln used an "Emoticon" in writing one of his speeches. Its interesting reading as we are here to consider "all things Lincoln:"

Well, I thought the original use of the "smile" was when it appeared on Forrest Gump's shirt.

Well, it looks to me like maybe the typewriter key might have been having issues. But who knows maybe someone was trying to smile
