It is a sad day in the Bat Cave as I have been informed of the passing of Adam West, best known for playing the Caped Crusader of Gotham City, at the age of 88. While I only know him for his guest roles in Family Guy, The Fairly Odd Parents and Kim Possible, my condolences go out to his family and the entire Batman fan base. Today we are all Batman fans.
Agree with Thomas.
One of my younger brothers loved the Batman TV show. I was a teenager during it's initial run- and it didn't interest me. The one part of the show I really liked though was when Batman and Robin would be climbing up the side of a building and be greeted along the way by a celebrity popping out of an open window. That was fun- and you never knew who would make an appearance. The show was extremely popular. In fact, it would be shown twice on the evenings that it was scheduled.
I think for many it provided an escape from the grim realities of the day's headlines (isn't that partly the role of entertainment?).

Adam West at his best in Family Guy
I was a huge Batman and Robin fan. That was my idea of sci-fi - to heck with aliens and mutants. There was something about his upper-class style and "fun" techniques of crime fighting that made one know that the good guys would win. Give me Batman, Robin, Superman, and Wonder Woman any day...
I used to watch Batman when I was a kid in the UK. It was wonderfully corny and funny. Loved the infamous Bat Dance.
Sammy Davis Jr. clip really cool!
His song Hello Detroit was once thought that it would be to Detroit what the song New York, New York became to New York. It never caught on...
The real Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth are now reunited enjoying retirement. Not much crime in heaven.
For all you Batman and Lincoln fans....
