Looks like the surname starts with an H. I don't want to say John Hughes, but This one might have been the Private that got the Booth note. I'm not positive, just a guess.

I saw the note when it went on display in 2014 at the Archives.

Does anyone know who called Major James O'Beirne off his hunt for JWB?
Was it Stanton or Lafayette Baker?

Jerry, Theodore Roscoe feels it was probably Baker in his Web of Conspiracy. (bottom of p. 349)
