I've worked with persons with BPD for over 25 years. it is possible. People with that disorder typically have abandonment issues-which may account for Mary's intense jealousies regarding her husband. Also, because she lost a parent at a young age it may have led to the disorder.
A video replay of Mary Lincoln's retrial is being shown today (April 28) on C‑­SPAN3 at 4 P.M. (Eastern Time)
What was the verdict of the retrial? I didn't get to view the program.
Bill, she was found not guilty of being insane.
That is very interesting to me. Not insane by today's standards or by the time period when it happened?
They used modern day standards in deciding her fate. The audience did the voting, and it was about 266 votes for not guilty and about 68 votes for guilty.
That's a significant percentage for Mary.
