Totally excited about this upcoming auction. This is a joint auction by Heritage Auctions and The Rail Splitter: http://historical.ha.com/c/search-result...ver-071515 - check back often since they are still adding more items.
One interesting piece up for auction is a door knob from the boarding house operated by Mary Surratt. It measures 2.25" across and has some good heft to it. A two-sided Denison paper tag describes it and states: "The building was being remodelled to make a Chinese restaurant and Bert Sheldon of the Metropolitan Police secured a few of these knobs." I have attached the photo but you can also view it online: http://historical.ha.com/itm/political/-...ail-071515
Many years ago The Rail Splitter used to have their own online auctions. Back in 2009, I participated in their bicentennial auction and won a few Edwin Booth playbills. I have also purchased rare items directly from Jonathan Mann including some JWB cdvs. Here’s the link to the 2009 auction: http://railsplitter.com/sale13/auction13.html
