This is strictly a wild guess, but could it be part of the Forbes collection (if it hasn't been sold) that used to be displayed in their New York offices?
No. It is not part of the Forbes collection. It looks like there's a Yankee teaching class so far today......
We may have a Yankee teacher, but we Rebels will be polite and not throw spitballs...
Hint # 1 - This item is displayed in a well established business.
Another wild guess: Dan Weinberg has it hanging in the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago?
No ma'am.
Hint # 2 - women were forbidden from entering this establishment until the late 20th. century.
Hint #3 - This establishment, like me, is located north of the Mason-Dixon line. Open since the 1850's, the Health Dept. of New York recently strongly suggested they make an attempt to remove decades of dust and dirt from the public area. Supposedly most items on display haven't been moved since 1910.
Good guess, politest man on the internet, but not good enough.
Unless my little nemesis from Surrattsville is getting somewhere with the New York crowd, I think I'm very close to making big strides in getting this Rebellion squashed.
Give the Surrattsville nemesis until 5 pm today to come up with an answer on her own. So far, she has not called in her big guns.
Still no big guns, but another guess: The Union League Club of NY?
