I'm looking for a good "allover" book on the White House - history, stories, presidents, refurbishings, at best with pictures...
Once "President's House" by William Seale was recommended on the forum, but it's a quite pricy one. I wonder if there's an appropriate alternative?
Many thanks for any "input"!
Found this on Amazon:

Let me know if you can't get it overseas. Right now, I'm in a snit with Amazon. They are building (haven't even broken ground yet) a new facility in Maryland, and as of October 1, Maryland residents have to pay 6% sales tax on whatever they buy from Amazon. Even new, however, these are much better prices than what the set generally sells for.

That happened in New Jersey a while ago too, only here it's 7%. At least you don't have to pay tax to venders if they're out of state.
Thanks for the heads up Laurie!

Thanks a lot for all your replies!!! Kees - do you have "Inside the White House" or have you seen it yourself?
I think I really would like to have "President's House", but I'm not sure what to do. I wonder if there's a big difference between the 1986 and the 2008 edition??? (Despite including more presidents?)

I bought it in 2000 in the gift shop when I visited the White House (as a tourist of course). The book is from 1999, don't know if there is an updated reprint available.
Lucky you that you visited the White House before 9/11 - not possible anymore for non-US citizens (unless you have connections) I learned...would love to see it.
Eva- now don't go jumping the fence!
