It's so good to see this movie is really getting close. We have been talking about this for many years now. As an example, here is a quote a person made on the ALO Mailbag in 2004:
"I attended a lecture by Doris Kearns Goodwin at Oakland University in Michigan. She spoke about Lincoln, her forthcoming book and on the Spielberg film on the book. She spoke with admiration for Lincoln. She also stated that the movie will be true to Lincoln and there will be no attempt to cast him in an injurious manner. However we are dealing with Hollywood here. Lets hope she's correct."
Perhaps the shortest trailer on record has been

They had a short bit on this on the 11 PM news last night -- and guess what? I had earlier last Fall sent some of my photographs to our local news station and when they mentioned this clip on the news last night - they showed two of the photographs I took!
I don't know about you guys but watching and listening to that trailer gave me goose-bumps!
I was not impressed. His voice seemed flat and emotionless. It was the music in the background that gave that short scene any life. Hard to tell though with such a short trailer.
Why do a mini trailer 2 days before the main trailer is released? How long have they been working on this movie?
I see that the Lincoln film will be released in November. In this past Sunday's NY Times Arts & Entertainment section there was a full-page ad for the film, featuring a profile shot of Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln. On another page, there was another, but different, profile shot of Lewis as Lincoln. Now I hate to pick nits but, while he appears "Lincolnesque", he sports a full beard. Since the film centers on the last four months of Lincoln's life (at least that is what I have read), he should not have a full beard, but only chin whiskers--as is evident from the Gardner photos of February 5, the Warren photos of March 6, the Gurney death photo from April, and even "close-ups" of Lincoln on the inaugural platform in March. With all of the technological advances in make up. the nose could have been crafted to be more like Lincoln's. I hope to heck he doesn't speak with the melliflous tones of, say, an Everett Dirksen, but more in the higher-pitched twang we should expect. Any thoughts on this?
Gene: I too noticed Lincoln's voice, but it wasn't a problem for me personally. Joe, you're absolutely correct about the beard. My guess it that because the movie is intended for a wide audience-they couldn't have Lincoln not look like Lincoln. Either, that or they didn't know he had trimmed his beard in such a way at that time.
"It’s splendid enough to make me wish Spielberg would make a 'prequel' to this instead of another **** Indiana Jones picture."

O'Reilly just said on his show tonite that this was a very good movie.
That clinched it, i'm going to go see it.
Too bad it doesn't cover the assassination. Mr. O'Reilly might learn something.

Yes, Bill O. stated that he thought the movie would win Oscars for Best Picture and Best Actor (for Day-Lewis).
