I have this oil painting of Abraham and Mary Lincoln and 3 Boys..was wondering if all 3 boys were alive at the same time to know if this was a possible family portrait from the period or a fantasy Folk Art painting,or??
Thank you so much for your help

Dave, welcome to the forum. Yes, the three boys were alive at the beginning of the war. Willie passed away on February 20, 1862. However, there are no known family photographs such as what is depicted here; Mary was never photographed with Abraham. Abraham was never photographed with Robert or Willie.
Thank you so much RJ and so very glad to be here as well..well I really want to thank you for all of that valuable information

Mary would not (like to) believe this!

Did Mumler take, er, make any similar picture with Willie in the background?
Eva, if a similar Mumler concoction exists of Mary and Willie (in the background) I don't think I've ever seen it. There is a photo that apparently contains Mary, Robert, and Tad that is not in many books. It can be viewed here. My eyes are really not good enough to clearly make them out.
Hey guys here's a CDV photograph of Abraham Lincoln and Family but this isn't a photograph from life, must have been a painting or engraving and they took a photograph of that

Dave, that first painting you posted is being offered on e-Bay here.

The second one was done by an artist.

You bet Bill and thank you as well!
What is the story behind the painting? Where did you get it?
Bill its one piece from my grandparent's very large Abraham Lincoln collection. I try to research and find out info on each piece best I can..have no idea on this one like a lot of others..no clues as wellSad
On post #6, the CDV, who is the small child in the lower right?
Gene, there is information here. I guess it's Willie?
He is too small in size to represent Willie- but I guess that is who it is supposed to be.
