Angela, thanks for all your efforts in finding this statue and sharing with us. It looks in good shape considering how it's been neglected.

Great photos.
Thanks for tracking this down and sharing the photos, Angela!!!
Angela: my heart was pounding as I read about how you found the statue and bravely continued on to capture it with your camera. Such moments are always treasured by us who embark on finding something off the beaten path. Great job- and thanks for sharing it!
Thank you so much - all of you! It was a wonderful time and while I'm joking about it a lot, it was a great experience and I hope to find more and especially LEARN more.
Just to say, I'm very happy to have found this thread, because I wanted to know how this object came to be on the grounds of a youth hostel in Salzburg. I first saw it I think four years ago, and thought, 'Weird', but walked by it again since my Lincoln-obsession began - reminded of its existence, and the same question, `Why?' I recently jogged by the sculpture (which is five years later still in good condition, nestled on the well-maintained grounds (as one would expect in Austria), visible from the street.) (And also trespassed to get a closer look. How many Americans do that / season? That's what they get for having a Lincoln statue.)
Otherwise I have no further insight or information relating to Lincoln-sightings in Austria.
