Jean Stapleton dead at 90
Just saw where actress Jean Stapleton died at age 90. For those of you unaware, she played Edith Bunker on All in the Family. This scene where Archie tells her not to say the words "cling peaches" has always struck me as funny. RIP Edith.

I'm so sorry to hear that Jean has passed....
A WONDERFUL comedienne! Saw her live on stage once in DC. Yes, that scene about the "Cling Peaches in Heavy Syrup" was priceless! Thanks for a wonderful memory... "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. P. Hartley |

RE: Jean Stapleton dead at 90
It took a top notch actress to pull off the role of Edith. I'm sorry to hear she's passed.

RE: Jean Stapleton dead at 90
I believe her last professional performance was in The Carpetbaggers Children- a production involving daughters of. Union Veteran in the South. Many years later, the same play was featured at Ford's Theater ( but without Stapleton, of course).
