And I believe a very nice re-print is still available at the Surratt House Museum bookstore? I will put in a quick plug here, they have the very very best selection of books on the subject, many from their own publishing. They also have a terrific selection of topics related to the events as well.

Historians will never know the names of everyone in Southern Maryland involved in the work of the Secret Line during the Civil War. These people were very good at what they did, as were the folks in the Northern Neck of Virginia. As Gen. Tidwell would say, "This is why the French Resistance during WWII studied the Confederate espionage network."

Unfortunately, the true reprints of Jones's book that we carried for over thirty years are no longer available. There used to be a wonderful book store in Port Tobacco called The Old Quenzel Store, and the proprietor would reprint many of the books from the assassination past. He retired a number of years ago and gave Surratt House his remainders.

Another couple from that area, John and Roberta Wearmouth, have published their own edition of the book sort of wrapped inside their commentary on the events. We still sell those at the museum. When these are gone, however, someone else will have to republish because the Wearmouths have retired from the business also.
