I was doing a little more work on Dr. Todd's family tree info., and ran across the Civil War Vet Pension application of his 2nd wife, and widow. The place of burial stated in it was Loudon Park Cemetery. This same woman is also buried there, as is his daughter, my great grandmother.

The listing for his other burial is found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyononda/MILITARY/CIVILW2.HTM . Although they have middle initial "E", the military service info. relates to Geo. B. for sure.

When I saw the info. your posting came to my mind, and figured I'd reply.

I only have the letters that my Todd cousin sent to me, and he passed away this past year, so if there was any more info. I can't share it. The one tradition that seems to have been passed down through two legs of the Todd family (Dr. Todd's AND his wife's) was that he was at least present at Booth's autopsy. He was Past Asst. Surgeon on board the Montauk, the iron clad onto which Booth's body was taken. It would make sense that he was at least in the room, but I've found no evidence that he participated in the actual autopsy. He did mention being a "detective" in the letter to his brother in the time following the assassination.

I think the history lovers here might appreciate my exceitement this morning because I was contacted by an antiquarian book seller who has an 1850 1st edition medical (text?)book that Dr. Todd signed on the first page along with his hometown of Fayetteville, NY. I'm expecting to receive it in a few days. How great is that?!!!!

Thanks RJ. I agree. I know this is a little off-topic, but in my case not so much. I know everyone isn't into genealogy, and have to confess that when my father was trying to urge me to look for info, mostly because he had been told that Dr. Todd was related to Mary Todd Lincoln - NOT - I did my fair share of mental eye rolling at the thought of looking up a bunch of dead people. I figured most of my family had just been here for a couple generations, and the list would be full of ancestors who worked at Sears, etc. (nothing wrong with that mind you - good honest work).

I would not only encourage those who read this forum to research their family history, but post it online. I have the advantage of being a web master and site designer so it was easier for me to do so. BUT, that's how many of my distant cousins found me and contacted me. In fact, that's how the book found me.
