I remembered this account years ago when my husband underwent the identical type of surgery. It was in-and-out surgery, but he was given general anesthesia for the procedure. I was loving wife enough not to tell him that Booth did it without even a pain killer! Seriously, however, I think that Booth's persona oozed bravado, whether on the stage or off. I can see him as being strong-willed enough to endure pain silently. I can't say the same for his political opinions...
