a possible image of President Abraham Lincoln in his casket
Workers dismantling base of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee monument find what could be a time capsule
Headline of Washington Post 12/18/2021 Reports said a 14-by-14-by-8-inch copper box was placed at the site — in what was then a tobacco field — three years before the equestrian figure of Lee was unveiled in 1890. The time capsule is thought to store some 60 items related to the Confederacy — most tantalizingly, a possible image of President Abraham Lincoln in his casket, as suggested in cryptic news accounts at the time. "So very difficult a matter is it to trace and find out the truth of anything by history." -- Plutarch |

RE: a possible image of President Abraham Lincoln in his casket
I sincerely doubt this image is it, but there exists a legend that a photo was taken of Abraham Lincoln in his casket when the funeral train was in Indianapolis.

RE: a possible image of President Abraham Lincoln in his casket
Well, the image was not in it unfortunately, but it made a great story and a much needed distraction for a bit.
