RE: Assassination Program Alert
Thanks for sharing, Jerry. That was a masterful response to his adversary. The one thing that worried me, especially with the lawsuit, was whether or not my employers (county government) would stand behind me. They most certainly did and supplied one of their legal counsel to work with me. In the other case, my excellent reputation at Surratt House stood me in good stead.

I also learned from the legal team that they deal with frivolous lawsuits and unsubstantiated complaints all the time. Some folks even attempt to make a living out of suing government agencies.

RE: Assassination Program Alert
Happy New Year Everyone!

As one of the talking heads roped into doing the Mysteries at the Museum Assassination show, I want everyone to know that I am deeply disappointed by the program and I regret participating. I spent a very long day with the host and film crew (who were all very nice) shooting scenes and having conversations about the Assassination plot. We filmed, as you know, at the Wok and Roll, the courthouse, and the Surratt House. I spent a lot of time talking about Mary, but also the other conspirators (all of them! What was that about - they cut out some of the co-conspirators!?). None of that showed up in the show. As Laurie pointed out, my bias regarding Mary's guilt was emphasized in the show, but honestly, I thought that I was very complimentary and fair towards Mary during the day of shooting, but they did not show that part of it. It was surreal to see how they cut and pasted the show together. We spent hours in the courtroom - where my sympathies for Mary were even more evident and details of the trial were discussed. You would never know that, however. We also spent hours at the Surratt House - but that all ended up on the cutting room floor. And all of it appears to have been in deference to Nate Orlowek and his wacky, unsubstantiated theories. He lied outright on the show. If I had known that the Travel Channel was going to feature that story, I would have declined. What premiered the other night bears no resemblance to the story I thought they were going to tell. A colossal waste of time and energy. So disappointing. And so unnecessary!
