Wild guess - the bed Lincoln slept in when he traveled to Gettysburg.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Good guess, Roger, but not correct. The person is well-known on the forum, but by far not mentioned as often as Abraham Lincoln.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Sorry for delay. Sorry, not Grant either, Mick!
Roger - politically both knew each other "well" (or possibly tried to figure each other), but never met in person. Hint #1: The place was not a hotel nor the person's home! |

RE: Extra Credit Questions
This is a very hot guess and you are on the right track, although it's not correct. It was neither JD nor a jail, but the person was very close to Jefferson Davis.
I should add that the place and circumstances have been mentioned on this forum, so I consider this a fair challenge... |

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Another hot guess, but, sorry, not Lee either. The person was a politician, not a military member. You are searching in the right camp, however.

RE: Extra Credit Questions
Another good guess, Gene, but Roger got it, being certainly in the advantage of having visited the place. The photo was taken in 1936 from a different angle and presenting a different way of display than the one visitors get to see today. So I'm glad it worked out to "minimize" your advantage, Roger!

RE: Extra Credit Questions
One of the scenes from Our American Cousin?
(Although there may be too much furniture ... actors walking into it etc.) “The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor, Is king o' men for a' that” Robert Burns |
