RE: Berry Lincoln Rutledge Hanks connection
Welcome to the forum, Mr. Berry! Impressive!
May I ask - why isn't Barack Obama on the "Irish" presidents list? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnew...llage.html |

RE: Berry Lincoln Rutledge Hanks connection
??? Could you please explain your reply, Mr. Berry? So is it not true his maternal great-great-great-grandfather was Irish?
This site claims he has German roots, too: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/wash...oots_N.htm (I think the last sentence nails it. I have no such widely spread ancestors, so no interesting, "colorful" stories...) |

RE: Berry Lincoln Rutledge Hanks connection
Odama grandfather? (Or do you mean Obama's grandfather?) I'm afraid I don't get the message/reasoning of your replies at all.
No, "Dunham" doesn't sound German, but "Johann Conrad Woelflin" does, according to my second link Obama's 6th great-grandfather who "sailed...in 1750 to America, changing his last name to 'Wolfley',...and eventually settling in Middletown, Pennsylvania," where "he married Anna Catherine Schockey in 1756 and had at least six children, including Ludwig Lewis Wolfley - Obama's 5th great grandfather". PS: I didn't mean to discuss Obama's entire roots, I just wanted to learn what makes someone (some presidents) eligible or not to count as of Irish or whatever ancestry as I know little on the matter. |
