You got it! The description is in John Fitch's Annals of the Army of the Cumberland and is part of an intercepted letter by an unnamed Confederate officer who was writing about the comings and goings of various Confederate officers and their wives. Emily was staying in Athens, TN at the time, as the letter mentions.
