Second Annual Freedom 5K at President Lincoln's Cottage!
Run in Lincoln's Footsteps at the Second Annual
Freedom 5K at President Lincoln's Cottage!

Run for freedom at the second annual Freedom 5K at President Lincoln's Cottage, where Abraham Lincoln developed the Emancipation Proclamation and led our nation through the Civil War. Olympic champion and running icon Joan Benoit Samuelson will participate in the Freedom 5K at President Lincoln's Cottage for the second year in a row. After winning the Boston Marathon twice, Ms. Benoit Samuelson went on to become the first woman to ever win the gold medal in the Olympic marathon at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Traverse a pastoral landscape that winds past ponds, fields, historic buildings and vistas on this breath-taking course. The run culminates on the foot of the lawn at President Lincoln's Cottage, where a ceremony will take place. The annual Freedom 5K is a unique opportunity for members of the public to race through the 250-acre grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home - home to hundreds of veterans who fought for freedom - in NW Washington, DC.

Saturday September 26, 2015 at 8:00 am.
$25 through August 26, then $30 through race day.

Register online.

Don't miss the free Tot Dash after the race!

I can't think anyplace I'd rather be on a lovely Fall day than at this event at the Lincoln Cottage! It sounds like heaven.

Thanks for the details, Roger!
