Were There Assassination Attempts on Jefferson Davis?
Following Gettysburg, Jefferson Davis's popularity fell. The war was going badly, inflation, shortage of food, the union blockade was working. Battlefield casualties continue to grow. Desertion from the Confederate Army was a bigger problem than for the northern army.
Southern families needed and wanted their men at home.

Not counting the Dahlgren Raid, were there attempts on Jefferson Davis's life? Were there guards around the Confederate White House?
Did he have military or private protection when he was out in public?

For you writers and researchers, this could be the basis for an interesting article or book.

So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in?

Gentlemen did not require bodyguards so the answer would be no. Ward Hill Lamon was Lincoln's friend and self appointed guard. I'm sure Davis had an armed friend with him on occasion but for the most part I would say no. When Davis left the Church after getting Lee's message that Richmond was going to fall he didn't leave with an entourage, he left alone.
