Lincoln statue, Troy, OH
        On May 3, Scott Trostel spoke at the dedication of a 40,000-pound, 30-foot tall bronze statue of Lincoln in conversation with a modern person. The statue is impressive, and is part of Troy's biennial outside/sidewalk art display.

That is a really big sculpture. I like the idea that Lincoln is in conversation with a person of this era. Does Lincoln speak yo us? He certainly does! I understand the piece of art is on loan and will be there only for the summer.

No connection between Lincoln and Troy, OH--the sculpture is here as part of Troy's biennial street art exhibitions. So looking forward to seeing you and Donna in October.

I was trying to remember something about Troy, Ohio. Then it came to me today- Troy, Ohio- where the product bar code was used on an item for the very first time- way back in 1974---on a pack of gum. Ok, now my day is complete!

And being a most-dedicated Chicago Cubs fan I think it was Wrigley gum.

And you can still find a piece from the original pack, slightly used, under one of the seats in the upper deck. Smile

Not sure I saw on here yet but the statue is Troy is an enlarged copy of J. Seward Johnson's statue of Lincoln and a Tourist on the Square in Gettysburg. It is just outside the Wills House. The common joke is that the tourist looks like Perry Como.
