New Image of Surratt Boarding House?
I've never seen this particular image before - has anyone else? The photo is taken from a different perspective. The photo was supposedly taken in the early 1920s and is from the DC Historical Society -

For some reason, I think I have seen this image (mainly because I remember the sign next door about Lace Curtains. However, I cannot remember where I saw it, and I don't think we have it in the Surratt holdings.

Yes I have seen it before. It's striking to me how neat and clean and beautiful that street and property was. If you walk down there now, it's a dump. That poor building. I would still like to buy it and restore it back to the way it was but the neighborhood is very run down.

I had this in my files. It is another view not often seen, only from the other side.

I believe that Joan Chaconas at the Surratt Society has a picture of the Surratt boarding house when the first floor was a brewery.

That may be in our museum's photo archives. Of course, many of us have seen the building and photos when it was a Chinese grocery story on the first floor -- Suey Sang Lung's - I think I spelled it correctly. They sold really good Chinese macaroons...
