Lincoln Hearse
Saw an ad on H2 (more2history - cable) for a new episode of Museum Men being aired this Saturday (12-27) at 10 PM Eastern time zone. They are building a full-size replica of the hearse that carried Lincoln's body in his funeral processions. It is for an auto museum in Sarasota, Florida?

I wonder which particular hearse they are building. For the Springfield funeral, city officials borrowed a hearse from St. Louis. The hearse used for the Springfield procession

Jim, I tried to find some information on this, and I came upon this short video about the construction of the replica. In the video the commentator says the reproduction will eventually be permanently housed at the ALPLM. Thus, I think this may be a different replica than the one Rick mentioned (if the other one is headed to Sarasota). |

RE: Lincoln Hearse
It will all unfold on Saturday. Museum Men is an entertaining show. It's about a company that builds replicas for museum exhibits. The story line is something along the lines that they have to construct a full size mastodon for a struggling museum and it has to talk.........and they have seven minutes to do it. Then half way through the project, they realize that they are building a female mastodon and the museum ordered a male. And they always finish and deliver the project in time.

RE: Lincoln Hearse
Was it just me, or did the replica the Museum Men created seem much shorter and less ornate than the original?
