Has anyone seen this movie yet (as it premiered in the US last October)? What is your feedback? Here it was released today.

I have not seen the movie, but I have ordered the book. From what I've seen, the plot line seems very similar to a book that Terry Alford wrote years ago entitled Prince Among Slaves, a true story of an African tribal prince who was sold into American slavery. One of the TV channels (PBS?) adapted it into a movie about 5-6 years ago. Very well done.

I saw the movie and felt it was one of those great, troubling, disturbing movies that I could not get out of my head afterwards like The Deer Hunter or Sophie's Choice.

I still have not seen this movie. Any additional thoughts about it by those who have?
I am catching up my movies- just saw Django Unchained.
