I found one article about the St. Matthew's Sunday School picnic, and another article about the Baptist Church fund raiser for the banner. So, were the two events combined into one with both churches participating? Or were there two events - one in July and one in August?
There were three different events:

4 July 1864 - Picnic/fundraiser held by St. Matthew's Colored Sunday School on the White House lawn

11 July 1864 - Picnic/fundraiser held by the other St. Matthew's Sunday School (i.e. white) at Washington Park on 7th St.

4 Aug. 1864 - Picnic/fundraiser held by 3rd Colored Baptist Sabbath School on the White House lawn (although, from reading the announcement, it looks like this event was sponsored by several Sunday schools)

Donna the article about the 4 Aug. event is the one I thought you were referring to in your earlier post, it comes from page 3 of the 5 Aug. 1864 edition of the Washington Evening Star. The other three images are advertisements for the upcomming three events that appeared in the Star. Their publication dates (in the order Roger posted them) are:

1. 3 Aug. 1864

3. 1 July 1864

4. 10 July 1864
