"What If John Wilkes Booth Went To Trial?"

Ok, I was inspired to ask this question after reading Joe's post on Mary Lincoln's new insanity trial.
Just for kicks and giggles the question is: If Booth had been captured alive and went to trial would he have been allowed to testify on his own behalf? Or would the military court have stifled his testimony also?
I think that we can all agree that there would have been 5 people swinging from the gallows on July 07.
