Abraham Lincoln Bust Being Restored in Lander, Wyoming
Many thanks to Kieran M. for sending these announcements:

"The bust of President Abraham Lincoln has been removed from its perch overlooking traffic on Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie.

It has been taken to Lander and the Eagle Bronze Foundry. There it will be cleaned, restored and re-coated with a weather resistant product."

Also:

"A handful of workers, along with some heavy machine help, placed a nine-foot bronze statue of President Abraham Lincoln in front of Stevens Hall at Gettysburg College on Friday.

The statue, which depicts Lincoln, sitting, while signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, was designed by Stan Watts of Salt Lake City, Utah.

The project took Watts about two years to complete for the college, he said.

"This is probably the most important piece I have done," Watts said. "We're honoring Lincoln because he did the hard task. He freed the slaves."

In August, Gettysburg Borough Council voted unanimously to eliminate a light pole in front of Stevens Hall because it obstructed the view of the statue from the street.

Later Friday, a statue dedication ceremony was held at Stevens Hall."
