Bike Abraham Lincoln's Commute
This announcement is from President Lincoln's Cottage:
Tired of being stuck at home? Lincoln felt that way too--he called the White House an "iron cage." In the summers, he sought refuge in a beautiful Cottage on the grounds of the Old Soldiers Home. He commuted to the White House daily, passing military camps, hospitals and "contraband camps" where formerly enslaved people lived. Bring your best bike and join President Lincoln’s Cottage and the DC Cycling Concierge on the morning of Saturday, August 8th, as we recreate Lincoln’s three-mile commute from the Cottage in Petworth to the White House, learning about 1860's Washington, DC along the way. |
